Did you know you’re only supposed to bath dogs once a month? Loathe as I am to wash away that fresh puppy smell, when you have a white Bichon Frise one month feels like a hell of a wait. Brushing and baby wipes alone can only do so much. So, at the first opportunity after Leni’s injections, I booked her in at the groomers. Whilst we’ve bathed her at home before (we’ve had her over two months now), the groomers is a whole new ball game.
As Bichons don’t moult they need to be cut around every six weeks. This makes it important to get a puppy comfortable with being at the groomers – unless you’re going to cut them at home yourself. Seeing as Leni would look like a product of Edward Scissor Hands handiwork had either Puppy Daddy or I attempted to cut her at home, the parlour it was.
We chose to take Leni to The Dog’s Corner on Portland Road, Hove. As Leni was a grooming virgin, they suggested their Complementary Puppy Treatment; a free shampoo, dry and brush. So, off Leni, Puppy Daddy and I went. The groomers was clean and had a ‘wash & go’ section for owners who want to do it themselves. Leni was the only dog in the parlour and had the undivided attention of her groomer. It was amazing. He was so professional and caring, he took care of Leni as if she were his own. [Read more…]
