The saying ‘like mother like daughter’ is no truer than with me and my mum. I find myself becoming more like her every week. I recently had to stop myself from barking at Puppy Daddy ‘do these gloves belong here? No, go and put them in your room’, then thankfully managed to bite my tongue before the words came tumbling out. And her phrases aren’t the only thing I’ve inherited; I got her hips, her love of baking and her affinity for candles. So when a selection of PartyLite candles arrived in the post recently, you can imagine my glee.
My mums house always has at least one candle burning. Sometimes an oil-burner, sometimes a big pillar candle. I guess that’s why I now have an ample supply of tea lights in the cupboard at all times. There’s something so comforting about having candles burning, especially if they’re scented. And it’s not just the smell; I love the warm light, the ambience.
When I’m not buying them for myself, I buy them as presents. Candles make the perfect gifts. They can be personal – especially if you know the person’s favourite scent – or a thoughtful alternative to flowers. They last for hours and are suitable for all budgets – from the luxury Jo Malone and Neom, to ones you can pick up at the supermarket.
Within my special candle delivery, I found lime and wild lemongrass tea lights, a berry blossom GloLite jar and some pretty butterfly tea light holders. The company uses consultants to share its products, much the same way brands such as Avon does, so I haven’t had chance to try them before – until now.
As soon as I pulled out the 12 little PartyLite tea lights from their cardboard packaging I was greeted by a lovely zesy scent. I was really impressed with the strong, delicious smell these gave off and also how long they burned for. Often, the standard tea lights I buy don’t last for the whole evening, but I found myself blowing these out before bed which was a nice surprise. I’ll definitely be stocking up on some more, especially as some of the other scents include Zen Thyme, Bamboo Breeze, French Vanilla and Driftwood.
The GloLite candle was lovely too. This jar candle has two wicks and give off a beautiful berry fragrance. It’s delicate, fruity and gently fills the room with a soft, clean scent. With a burn time of 50-60 hours, the GloLite candle seems to last and last. It also comes in a lovely white box – perfect for gifting. Again, this GloLite candle comes in a lovely selection of scents; Iced Snowberries, Wild Strawberry and Tropical Waters to name just a few.
As far as budget goes, GloLite sits comfortably between supermarket prices and more expensive ranges. I think they’re actually really good value for money considering the quality, scent and burn time of these candles. The GloLite jar is £21.50 and the tealights are £13.50 for 18.
I really think the candle lover in your life will adore PartyLite candles and with Mother’s Day coming up, it’s the perfect time to treat a loved one! They’ve even got Leni’s seal of approval and she’s as discerning as me when it comes to candles…
Until next time,
