Lipsticks are my weakness. They’re the first thing I look at on any beauty counter and I often end up with multiple shades swatched on my hand, my very own Picasso. I love the way lipsticks can completely change a casual outfit into something more special. After years of trying different brands, MAC always comes out on top. They last hours, they’re highly pigmented and there is so much choice. Over the years I’ve tried my fair share of MAC lipsticks, some were a disaster (Myth washed me out completely) and some were a revelation (Ruby Woo, need I say more?). So I thought I’d round up my 5 best MAC lipsticks that I think anyone could wear and LOVE. Here’s my pick…
MAC Please Me
Please Me is my all-time favourite lipstick. It’s pink – but in a grown up way. It’s matte – but doesn’t drag across the lips. And it’s so flattering. I tend to smudge just a little onto my lips for a more natural hint of colour, or apply it properly if I’m going for a more polished look. It’s not your typical pretty pink, it’s far cooler with mauve undertones and I can imagine Kylie Jenner would love this particular shade. One of the things I like most about Please Me is that it lasts and lasts – through multiple cups of coffee, breakfast and lunch. Far from being garish, I find this warm-toned pink really brightens up my skin tone, perfect for the everyday. One of the best MAC lipsticks out there!
Patisserie is the most understated lipstick you’ll own. It is great for the everyday, with a slight golden shimmer and natural pinky-brown undertone. It’s elegant, chic and ideal for a barely-there look that works to enhances your natural lip colour. This lipstick is in MAC’s Lustre formula – a semi-gloss, demi sheer finish – perfect if you’re looking for something nourishing and pretty but don’t expect the long wear you’d get from a matte formula. I love that this shade makes your lips look plump and healthy (here’s a tutorial to prove it). If you haven’t come across your perfect nude lipstick yet, try this one.
An orange-based red, this lipstick is my favourite summer shade. A crème texture, MAC’s Morange is comfortable to wear – not matte, but not shiny either – the perfect balance. It’s also forgiving on dry lips, as it won’t sap your lips of moisture or show up any rough patches. I always keep my eye makeup super simple when wearing this lipstick and focus on creating flawless, glowy skin instead. Although orange lipstick was a real trend at one point, I feel that Morange surpasses that and has made its way into my classic collection. It won’t date (picture slicked back hair, golden skin and a perfect Morange lip) and isn’t gimmicky like some other really bright orange shades I’ve seen on the high street. I always get so many compliments when wearing Morange, it’ll be the game changer of your lipstick collection. Don’t be afraid to wear this lipstick – you’ll love it, I promise. [Read more…]
